As the name suggests, the Liveryman Lunch is the only function in the Company’s events calendar which is exclusively for Liverymen, and once again it was held in the delightful surroundings of Innholders’ Hall, where we were treated to the fantastic culinary expertise of Michelin starred chef, Herbert Berger.
Traditionally we invite the Lord Mayor and we were delighted that Alderman Charles Bowman, 690th Lord Mayor of the City of London was able to join us. At our request, the Company of Pikemen & Musketeers, the Lord Mayor’s Ceremonial Guard of Honour, also provided a quite splendid Lining Party.
At the Master’s personal invitation Major Richard Jackson, Captain Commanding of that Company also attended.
This is the event at which we thank our Honorary Liverymen for their continued support for the Company and we were very pleased that the following were able to attend:
Alderman The Lord Mountevans
Sir David Brewer KG CMG CVO JP
Alderman Dame Fiona Woolf DBE
Alderman Sir Roger Gifford
The Revd Canon Roger Hall MBE
Founder and Past Master Emeritus Steve Neville OBE
Founder and Past Master Emeritus John Purnell GM QPM DL
First Lady of the Company and Past Master Emeritus Una Riley
Mr Philip Willoughby OBE JP
First Lady of the Company and Past Master Emeritus Una Riley received a scroll from the Master Air Commodore Stephen Anderton, to mark her becoming an Honorary Liveryman and First Lady of the Company.
The Master presented the Lord Mayor with the Company’s traditional gift of a key, a symbol of security; the Lord Mayor was also presented with a cheque for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal. To reciprocate, the Lord Mayor presented gifts to the Master and Clerk.
The Liveryman Lunch was a most enjoyable occasion and we thank Gratte Brothers for their generous, continued sponsorship which was acknowledged by the presentation of a special certificate to their representative, Liveryman Jim Oughton.
