NSI appoints new Head of Standards

18-May-2018

The National Security Inspectorate (NSI) has appointed Robert Conlon as Head of Standards.

In his new role Robert will oversee NSI’s own Codes of Practice, interpreting documents for the practical implementation of management, security and fire safety standards in addition to identifying new approval schemes aligned to the trends and technologies being adopted by the security and fire safety market.

Robert joins NSI from the healthcare sector where he has held senior quality improvement and management roles, as well as undertaking compliance auditing. He brings over 30 years’ experience in applying and managing quality management and security services systems, schemes and standards.

On his appointment he said: “Having been involved with quality improvement and auditing throughout my career I am very much looking forward to applying my knowledge for the benefit of the wider security sector which is experiencing significant changes.”

NSI’s Chief Executive, Richard Jenkins commented: “Robert joins NSI 20 years to the month that NSI gained its independence. It’s a key time for the industry, with heightened awareness of the significance of life safety risk assessments, the integration of new technologies in remote monitoring of home security systems, the ever widening use of CCTV, the impact of GDPR, the SIA’s review of its Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) and close cooperation with the police, all serve to demonstrate the importance of the highest standards of service and technical competence.”
